Dear Prospective Fitness Trainer,
Thanks for visiting this site. We have been open in our relocated onsite facility since Aug. 2023. As the business has grown I am always on the lookout for a good staff team. Currently we have 2 personal trainers in addition to me. I looking for an evening trainer to work 2 nights per week. Our clients sign up for packages lasting from 5 weeks to 12 months and are excited to make positive changes and being coached with an ever diligent eye for correct form and coaching. We are always looking for trainers to cover morning and evening with evening being the focus for this job posting.
In Memphis we saw clients as early as 5 a.m. and finished as late at 7 p.m. As your clients grow then you may wish to add additional hours. Also, with the popularity of zoom training you have the ability to train clients via zoom when they or you are traveling to make sure working out is always a lifestyle choice and no pauses keep clients from reaching their goals.
It's my hope that you possess precisely what I am looking for in a trainer so we can get you started learning our proven Energize Method so you can start getting results for our clients.
You should have arrived here because you saw my employment ad on a job posting site, social media, our website or Craig's List that reads like this:
Part-time personal training position available $24-$75 per hour
This is a wide range as it depends on how many clients you see in each 30 minute session and the package the clients purchase. It also may require patience as you build your clientele to stack your clients. Should client purchase the smallest standard package then they pay $4 more per session than the largest package.
I (owner) often have 2-3 clients per 30 min. semi-private personal training sessions back to back.
YOU/Trainer are paid for each client in session.
Apply now (click on the form below TO FORMALLY APPLY & leave us a voice mail if you wish 901-466-6242)
This is not the type of job where just showing up is enough.
About me & my company:
My name is Tonya Tittle. I run a company called Energy Fitness. I have a Masters degree in Exercise Science, B.S. degree in Physical Education/Wellness Leadership, am a Licensed Massage Therapist and have numerous certifications to help our trainers be the best coach for our clients. We were in Memphis, Tennessee located Downtown Memphis from 2002-2021. We then relocated to South Carolina had a 2 year construction delay and have been open since Aug. 23,2023.
We are a private, personal fitness training studio about 2200 square foot by appointment only facility. We work with our clients on both fitness and nutrition and are dedicated to helping women and men achieve their health and fitness goals. We were downtown Memphis for about 20 years. We have helped over 3,200 clients get healthier and fit since 2002. June 2024 is our 22nd year anniversary.
The majority of our clients are between 40-75. They are busy executives, working parents, athletes, business owners and active retired individuals. We work around a lot of injuries and do lots of functional movement training, nutrition coaching and coaching for accountability.
Our Mission
is to Inspire Optimal Health & Wellness through: Empowerment,
Education, Coaching, and Training in a safe and Non-Intimidating
Atmosphere. We have evolved to include more mindfulness and whole body self-alignment.
HOURS: If you are hired for this position, you'll need to be available for clients for discussed availability, likely Monday - Friday, all or some days/times. Be available to do fitness assessments and consultations (I will train you exactly how to do these). You will initially be working alongside myself or other trainers for staff training/learning our method/shadow training, etc. along with short videos of demo exercises.
There will be a 30 day trial period. Trainers that have been the best & happiest have had this position in addition to having employment or clients elsewhere. That said should you be amazing at your job there's a great chance you will have more clients available to you.
Tasks You'll be Expected to Perform:
- Answering door (this is only for prospects that do not have the door code), greeting clients/prospects, and returning phone calls & texts from your clients or prospects.
- Lead Clients through Done for You Comprehensive Health & Fitness Programs with your own twist on it: We have copywriten over 100 programs and then added another 200 that are more functional movement and injury management/prevention based. We teach you how to do these and encourage you to add your own flair.
- Tracking Client Progress: In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, it is necessary to write down date of workout, sets, reps, what hurts on a client, modifications made to exercises, etc.. This is so easy as the cards have pictures and space for this information tracking.During post fitness assessments you will have clients fill out accountability worksheet. As needed you will review client nutrition logs (for those that actually turn them in). It will be your job to hold a client accountable to his/her health & fitness program to ensure the best results possible. This ones' a biggie as we need follow through from you to keep the clients happy, reaching their goals, telling their friends how great you are, obtaining new clients, etc..
- Perform Fitness Evaluations: Ideally, you'll have some assessment skills and can test for body composition, body weight, girth, blood pressure, heart rate, and various strength and flexibility tests. You do not need previous experience, but if you do that's a BONUS in my book and will help you retain clients at a much higher rate. Clients get tested every 6 weeks or 12 workouts. We have added functional movement screens to our assessments which clients love and help us choose the right core and exercises for their programs.
- Coach clients: You'll be responsible for training clients for 2-4 times per week 30 minute exercise sessions (or when workout is complete!) either in semi-private personal training (1 trainer- 2 to 3 clients- the majority of our clients do this type of session) or private personal training. If a client is having challenges throughout his/her program, you'll coach and motivate client and make appropriate changes to ensure constant progress. Giving corrective feedback is necessary for injury prevention and maximum results.
- Demonstrate Proper Exercise Instruction: This is a big one. I need you to be able to provide proper coaching, instruction, and motivation during a client training session. You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc) and be able to provide appropriate exercises for clients goals especially working around client injuries or fitness level.
- Provide Ongoing Health & Fitness Education: Our clients rely on us to service all of their health and fitness needs. It is your job as a fitness coach to provide clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. On occasion you'll be provided with educational tools and resources, will be expected to study them and speak about them with your clients. During occasional staff meetings or email/video clips I will spend time covering this and keeping you up to date on what's going on behind the scenes, marketing, events, etc..
- Nutrition Coaching: I have implemented nutrition coaching as a separate source of income for the business so if you demonstrate a desire to learn how to do these types of sessions it may increase your hours and income.

Ever wanted to break into the fitness industry, but nobody gave you a shot because you lack a degree, certification, or experience? Good news—I don’t care (as long as you’re willing to learn). I’ve got a “Train the Trainer” program that will teach you everything you need to know. What I do care about? Work ethic, personality, and your ability to show up, pay attention, and get clients results.
Who We’re Looking For:
Must be 25 or older. Our clients range from 37 to 75, and they expect a trainer who brings life experience, confidence, and the ability to relate to their challenges.
A personality. If you can’t engage with people, this isn’t for you.
A passion for fitness. No faking it—our clients can tell.
The ability to follow directions. Seriously, just pay attention.
Basic organization. We track workouts, progress, and client notes—it’s not rocket science.
Confidence & authority. Clients are paying to be told what to do. Own it.
Good communication. If you can’t talk to people, how will you coach them?
What You’ll Do:
- Greet clients (because saying hello matters).
- Guide clients through 30 Minute Semi-Private Sessions (1 trainer-2 to 3 clients in a 30 minute session) done-for-you fitness programs—modifying as needed for injuries, fitness levels, and random life events.
- Hold clients accountable—because motivation fades, but consistency wins.
- Track progress—not just sets and reps, but what hurts, what’s improving, and what needs tweaking.
- Coach and motivate—because our clients are here to work, not just chat about their weekend plans.
- Educate—on fitness, nutrition, recovery, and why skipping workouts isn’t an option.
- Occasionally answer phones (but mostly just to book more sessions).
Bonus Points (Not Required, but Nice to Have):
Personal training experience (duh).
Nutrition knowledge (because abs are made in the kitchen).
A fitness certification (or at least working on it).
Kinesiology or Exercise Science degree.
CPR Certified (because safety first).
